DC Contactor vs Switch: Start with the Required Function

“Switch” is an overloaded word in a DC-panel conversation. It can refer to a device that responds to a control command, a device intended for a documented isolation function, or a device that changes a circuit path. These are not interchangeable jobs. Name the required action before asking for a component.

  2. Record who or what initiates that action and the required state without the control input.
  3. Attach the drawing revision and identify any service-isolation or changeover requirement separately.
  4. Keep the existing label in a replacement request, but confirm that the underlying function is unchanged.
